Alexander, –, address unrecorded (1748). On 13 June 1748 £6 6s was paid by Mrs Bowes to ‘Alexander for a pair of branches lackered’. [Durham RO, D/St/V1488–90]

Alken, Oliver, London, carver (1766–68). Worked at St Mary's Lutheran Chapel, Savoy, from 1766–68 on architectural carving, brackets at the altar, branches at the altarpiece, etc. This was part of an extensive restoration surveyed by William Chambers.

Arundale, W., 2 Castle St, Hastings, Sussex, carver and gilder (1837–40). Successor to G. Wooll. Arundale had previously been employed by Ackermann & Co., Strand, London.

Baildon, Thomas, Blake St, Stonegate, York, u, appraiser, undertaker and auctioneer (1762–1798). Son of William Baildon, tailor, and Sarah Baildon. App. to Robert Barker jnr u, 1 May 1762. Admitted freeman 1785.

Bennington & Co., address unrecorded, lampmakers (1832). On 13 August 1832 supplied 24 ornamental double branch socket lights for lustres in Library and Drawing Room for Windsor Castle, costing £29 6s. [PRO, LC 11/77]

Bishop, —, Long Acre, London, ‘from Edinburgh’, gilder and carver (late 18th century). Hepplewhite-style oval mirror recorded bearing label which states that he ‘performs carving & gilding in all its branches, viz.

Blackburn (or Blakeburn), Thomas, St Mary's Gate, Manchester, cm (1771–73). Recorded at no. 14 in 1773. Announced in Prescott's Manchester Journal, 21 December 1771 ‘that he has enter'd on the shop late of Mr. Watkinson's, in St.
