Adair, John

Recorded at St Ann's Court, Covent Garden in 1749 and by 1763 was established at Wardour Street, Soho.

Agnew, Thomas & Zanetti, Vittore, Manchester, carvers and gilders (1810–40). Thomas Agnew (b. 1794–d. 1871), founder of the present firm of Bond St, London, fine art dealers, was app. to Zanetti in 1810 and made a partner in 1817.

Anning, John, Broad St, Lyme Regis, Dorset, cm and u (1829–40). Married a Miss Reader of Lyme in December 1829. Inscription recorded on drawer of mahogany bow-front toilet mirror: ‘Mr. John Anning Cabinet maker Lyme 1833 Dorset’.

Aurache was listed as the carver of various frames exhibited by Gilbert C. Cooke at the  Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society, London, 1910 (cat. no. 347).

Barlow, William, Swallow St, London, carver (1745–51). Worked for William Kent at 44 Berkeley Sq. in 1745, and with James Richards at Henry Pelham's house in Arlington St. His ‘Kentian’ friezes with foliages, festoons, shells and flowers cost 48s each.

Beckwith, James, address unrecorded, cm (1814). Named in the Royal Household accounts on 5 January 1814 supplying new plate glass for dressing table in President's Room and blinds in Office Keeper's appartment, Council Office, Whitehall.

Bedwell, William, the Butter Mkt, Ipswich, Suffolk, joiner and cm (1723–42). As only joiner he took out a Sun Insurance policy on 6 January 1723 for £200 on his dwelling house in the parish of St Stephen.
