Made Freeman of the City of Dublin as an Upholder by Service, Easter 1763. Recorded at Big Butter Lane, 1762; Derby Square, 1763; Great Booter’s Lane, 1764-70.
The Dublin Courier, 3-5 November 1762, announced the ‘Marriage on the same day [Monday of] Mr. Richard Wilson, an eminent Upholder of Big Butter-lane to Miss Gillard, of the same place. In whom are counted all those suitable accomplishments which alone, are conducive of real happiness with a good fortune’.
The Dublin Mercury, 15-17 March 1768, published the following notice: ‘Saturday, March 12th, at night, Mr. Richard Wilson, Upholder, was attacked by two footpads, armed with knives, on Redmond's-hill, who robbed him of half a guinea and some change, one of them was a low dapper fellow, wore a buff-coloured coat, striped flannel waistcoat and a black handkerchief, he is supposed to be an inhabitant of that place, and as he is partly known, we hope soon to give a good account of him’.
