Recorded at the sign of the Golden Bull in Dame Street near College Green, 1748-60; Cole Alley, 1764.
Faulkner’s Dublin Journal, 2-5 January 1748: ‘James Welsh, Japanner and Gilder, at the Golden-bull in Dame-street, near College-green, who served his time to Mr. Robinson, deceased, performs his Japan business in all qualities, does all kinds of chamber chests, cabinets, screens, side-boards, tables, tea-tables, dressing tables and dressing boxes, with everything that is done in the Japan way and as he is a young beginner and now set up for himself, he hopes for encouragement from the quality, and relies on his performance in pleasing those that will honour him with their business’.
