Webb, William jnr

Newington, London; Windsor and rustic chair maker (b.1772)

Son of William Webb snr, baptised Newington Surrey, 29 May 1772. Inherited his father’s business on the latter’s death in 1795 but chose to sell up rather than continue the business, possibly in order to distribute assets among the rest of the family, which included chairmaking brothers Richard, George and Joseph. By 1803 was in partnership with his brother Richard, an arrangement which lasted until at least 1811.
