Weatherall, John

London; upholsterer and cabinet maker (fl.1774–1805)

Recorded at 26 Haymarket (1774–94).

In November 1787 Weaherall was paid £4 6s by Gertrude, Dowager Duchess of Bedford for eight mahogany India back elbow chairs (£4 4s) and a small kitchen table (2s). These were ordered for 49 Pall Mall [Bedford Office, London].

In 1794 he moved to 52 Dean Street, Soho where he remained until 1805. His total insurance cover in January 1791 was £1,100 and in June 1794 £1,300 [The London Archives (TLA), Sun MS vol. 373, ref. 579404; vol. 401, ref. 628770].

Wetherall was included in the list of master cabinet makers in Sheraton's Cabinet Dictionary, 1803.
