Watkin, Griffth (1792-1811)

Watkin, Griffth

Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales; carpenter, builder and architect (fl. 1792-1811)

Griffith Watkin was listed in the Universal British Directory of 1792 as an architect and in Holden’s Directory of 1811 as a carpenter. In 1808-11 he built and fitted out the new Quaker meeting house in Haverfordwest and much of the original woodwork is still in situ (illus. Bebb (2007), fig. 932). Now stripped, the woodwork was originally ‘painted 3 Coats with Oile and Suitable Cullars’.
