Towers, Christopher
Lancaster, Lancs.; joiner and cabinet maker (fl.1738-1780)
The son of Alice Towers, widow of Lancaster, he was apprenticed to Thomas Walker of Lancaster, joiner and cabinet maker, from 1 January 1738. In August 1763 he was paid 3 9d. each by Gillows for making four chairs with ‘fig. of 8' backs. He was recorded in their Petty Ledgers for c.1766-85. In the early 1780s he bought mahogany, deal and oak plank from Gillows for which he paid cash.
