Thornton, Richard
Lancaster, Lancs.; cabinet maker (fl.1764-80)
The son of Margaret Thornton of Pilling, widow, he was apprenticed from 15 October 1764 to John Wakefield and Henry Birket, cabinet makers of Lancaster, for seven years. He worked for Gillows during the 1770s and was recorded in their Petty Ledgers for 1769-73, 1773-77 and 1780-82. He made looking glass frames in 1780.
