Thomlinson, Anthony (1766-1769)
Thomlinson, Anthony
Lancaster, Lancs.; carver and artist (fl.1766-69)
He was recorded in the Gillow’s Petty Ledger for 1766-69. He made sketches of furniture for Gillows, including sketches of ‘four library tables’ and a design for a glass frame in 1766. He was also paid for ‘Bobs learning’, that is, teaching Robert Gillow jnr who would have been nineteen in 1766. Whether Thomlinson taught him drawing or carving is unclear, but it was probably both. He was also responsible for making and or carving a large glass frame for the Lancaster Assembly Room.
