The son of the Gentleman, John Stratford of Milton Post, Gloucestershire, apprenticed to George Friend on 4 September 1722 and Ovebury Hale, a freeman and member of the Drapers’ Company in September 1722.

Made free of the Upholders’ Company by servitude on 7 April 1742 [Guildhall Library, Upholders’ Company records].
