Dublin, Ireland; cabinet maker (fl.1729-d.1745)
Freeman of the City of Dublin as a Joiner by Grace Especial, Michaelmas 1729. He was elected Warden of the Joiners' Guild from 1732 to 1733 and Master from 1743 to 1744.
Recorded in George’s Lane, 1730-45.
Faulkner’s Dublin Journal, 30 July-3 August 1745: ‘The widow of Mr. John Steers, Cabinet-maker, late of George’s-lane, and her son, being bred to his father business, intends to continue the same, and will take care to employ the best hands and to have everything done in the best and newest fashion, to the satisfaction of such as please to favour them with their custom. They have at present great variety of joiners and cabinet-makers goods viz oak, walnut and mahogany, after the neatest manner, to be sold at reasonable rates’.
