Exeter, Devon; cabinet and chair maker, upholsterer and undertaker (fl.1821–26)
In November 1821 he advertised for a good workman and in April of the following year announced that he had commenced trading from premises at 171 Fore Street and St Mary Arches Sreet. He stated that he had ‘engaged workmen of the first abilities, particularly in the chair line’ and that ‘a number of pattern chairs of the most exquisite workmanship may be seen at his ware-rooms’ [Exeter Flying Post, 1 November 1821].
In February 1823 he moved to 92 North Street and was again advertising for workmen in October 1823 [Exeter Flying Post, 20 February and 16 October 1823; The Alfred, 18 February and 18 March 1823].
He was declared bankrupt in March 1826 [The Alfred, 7 and 14 March 1826].
