Smagg, Peter (1730-44)
Smagg, Peter, Frith St, Soho, London, cm (1730–44). Appears to have been associated with the business conducted by John Hodson in Frith St, probably a partner. He receipted a number of bills ‘for Hodson & self’. His name is found in connection with a payment of £52 16s made in 1730 in connection with Longford Castle, Wilts. On 2 November 1731 Sir John Dutton of Sherborne House, Glos. paid him £22 8s for fourteen painted chairs ‘for my Hall at ye Lodge’, £1 15s for a mahogany basin stand for ‘ye Bed Chamber’ and other sundries.
