Scriven, William senior

Dublin, Ireland; joiner and cabinet maker (fl.1651-d.1701)

Freeman of the City of Dublin as a Joiner by Grace Especial, Midsummer 1651. He was Master of the Carpenters’ Guild from 1672 to 1673.

Recorded in St John Parish and Winetavern Street, 1661-1701.

Scriven was employed by Sir John Temple to make furniture for his new seat of Palmerston in the late 1670s to late 1680s, where he completed a set of ten cane-bottom chairs for the drawing room, which cost £11 10s.
