The firm was recorded as upholsterers and undertakers at 10 George Street in the Post Office Directory, 1850. James Scott, cabinet maker, upholsterer and undertaker of 10 Clyde Street was listed in the same publication; he was possibly connected with the firm. 

J. & T. Scott exhibited a cabinet at the 1862 London International Exhibition. The exterior of the cabinet was in ebony and purplewood with the interior in ebony with thuya (illus. Meyer (2006), p. 136).
