Romney (1834)

Romney,-

Lancaster, Lancs.; cabinet maker or upholsterer fl.1834)

In April 1834 Gillow & Co. described Romney as ‘our foreman Romney’. He had apparently waited on Mr. Thomber, a Blackpool customer, and promised him sketches and drawings of drawing room furniture. Gillow & Co. informed the customer that it ‘may be done at various less prices but not of such quality as we should recommend'. Romney had omitted to measure the height of the room and the window to the top of the architrave.
