Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire; cabinet maker (fl.1906)
A member of the Guild of Handicraft who probably was recruited in London but worked with the Guild in Chipping Campden. With J. W. Pyment, Ride made a writing cabinet on a stand, like a Spanish vargueno, with a plain exterior and rich interior fitted with leather tooled with gold foil, price £65. This was exhibited at the 1906 Arts & Crafts Exhibition (cat. no. 258). It was unsold and became part of the furnishings at Ashbee’s house, 37 Cheyne Walk, London. Now in the V&A Collection (illustrated below);
