Riddle, William

16 Nottingham Pl., Whitechapel Rd, London; cabinet maker (fl.1823)

Took out a Sun Insurance policy on 15 January 1823 for £200, including £30 on a chest of tools in Baynes's workshop in Wheatsheaf Yd, Fleet Mkt. [GL, Sun MS vol. 489, ref. 999880]. He is likely to be the maker of two regency tables stamped ‘W. RIDDLE’ (illus, (Gilbert (1996), figs 767-768). See Matthew Lawther.
