A billhead (above), dated 1819, for J. Richards, upholsterer, cabinet maker and undertaker at 122 High Holborn, for a swan mahogany bookcase with four tray shelves and one plain, glazed door (price £4 8s 0d) is included in the Graham Gadd Archive (NMS).

Richards took out a Sun Insurance policy on 13 February 1822 for £2,200 on his house, £500 on household goods, £100 on china and glass, and £1,200 on utensils and stock in house, shed and open yard. 

A bill dated 22 June 1822, survives from Richards to ‘Wilson Esq.’ totalling £4 7s 6d for ‘A Curricle Bugeir Chair staind Rose Wood Carved back & Seat & Cushion to do’, and ‘An Extra cushion covered with purple Morocco leather’. 

He was listed as upholsterer at the same address in the London Post Office Directory 1845.
