London; cabinet maker (fl.1899-1916)

G. Ravenscroft was recorded as a maker of furniture, designed by Ambrose Heal jnr. His work was shown in various exhibits shown by Heal and Son at the Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society, London, 1899-1916. This included:

1899 - mahogany wardrobe [inlaid with pewter], executed by G. Ravenscroft, Sen. (cat. no. 209)

1912 – dining table in chestnut, executed by G. Ravenscroft, price £10 10s (cat. no. 151); dresser in chestnut, executed by G. Ravenscroft, price £25 (cat. no. 410)

1916 – dining table, chestnut, executed by G. Ravenscourt, price £12 12s (cat. no. 311)

G. Ravenscroft was probably George, born 1857 and recorded as cabinet maker in 1901 and 1911 living in Hackney. His age would have prevented his active service during the 1st World War. His son, Ernest, b. 1884, recorded as cabinet maker (census 1901 and 1911), also worked for Heal and Son.
