Rainford, William, snr. & jnr.

Liverpool, Lancashire & London; upholsterer and cabinet maker (fl.1830-81)

The son of Thomas Rainford, William snr., upholsterer, was admitted a freeman by patrimony on 15 November 1830 [Liverpool freemen register].

He was at 8 Ryley Gardens (1830); at Kirkdale Village, near Liverpool (1834); 63 Lord Street (1835–37); and at 25 Devonshire Place (1839).

Possibly his son, also William, was recorded as a cabinet maker at 6 Colquitt Street, Liverpool (1848). The 1851 census recorded him as a 42-year old upholsterer and cabinet maker employing fifty men living in Bickerstaffe, Lancashire.

The 1871 census listed him living in Hungerford Road, Islington, London as a salesman upholsterer.

In 1881 he was still in London working as a cabinet maker. By this time his son, John was working as an upholsterer.
