Prince, John (1690)

Prince, John

Erddig, Denbighshire, Wales; carpenter (fl.c.1690)

John Prince was the first recorded house carpenter in 1690 for Erddig, near Wrexham, working for the owner, Joshua Edisbury. In 1792 a portrait of the current house carpenter, 73 year old Edward Prince, was painted by John Walters. His father, Charles, had also been house carpenter and he was presumably the son of John Prince.
