Sidmouth, Devon and London; joiner, cabinet maker and upholsterer (fl.1803–39)
Bound Richard Farrant as an apprentice in 1803, at which date Potbury was described as a joiner of Sidmouth [Register of duties paid for apprentices indentures].
In June 1807 he advertised for two or three workmen promised ‘constant employment’ in his cabinet making workshop. His bankruptcy was announced in January 1822 but he was nevertheless listed in an 1823 directory [Exeter Flying Post, 18 June 1807, 10 January 1822].
His son, Gregory jnr (b.1804) was listed as an upholsterer at 8 Hereford Street, Lisson Grove, London, in 1839, having married in Marylebone in 1830.
