Pluckrose, Robert (1718-20)

Pluckrose, Robert, ‘The Sun and Half Moon’, Fleet Ditch, London, u (1718–20). Free of the Upholders’ Co., 3 September 1718. In 1720 a fire broke out at his warehouse and he tried to claim for the destruction caused. There was, however, a suspicion that he had caused the fire deliberately. He had insurance cover for £1,000 on the contents of the warehouse, but it was alleged their true value was only £300. He was summoned to appear before the Lord Mayor.
