Pinckney, William

London; upholsterer (fl. 1749–94)

The son of the Gentleman, Charles Pinckney of Great Marlow, Buckinghamshire, apprenticed to Thomas Humphreys, 7 December 1749 and then Charles Grange, 9 January 1755. Made free of the Upholders’ Company by servitude, 2 October 1766 [Guildhall Library (GL), Upholders' Company records]. 

At 30 St Paul's Churchyard in 1770 but declared bankrupt in 1772. His business was operating from an address in King Street, Golden Square in 1792 and by 1794 he was living in Dover Street [Bailey's list of bankrupts; Ambrose Heal, London Furniture Makers (1953), p. 138].
