An advertisement in the Cabinet Maker of 1890 (illus. Smith & Rogers (2006), p.52) claimed that Paish was the ‘Cheapest House in London for Dry Stuff’ at low prices and of good quality. He was an importer of American cut walnut and oak in boards, planks and squares of all sizes – other woods in stock included beech, pine, ash, wainscot, mahogany, staves, battens, brown oak, Spanish veneers and brown oak veneers.
