Listed as art furniture makers at 27 Hardman Street, Liverpool in The Furniture Gazette Directory (1877).
The Furniture Gazette, 28 August 1880, recorded that the firm at Hardman Street was building new offices, workshops and showrooms to be known as St Luke’s Art Workshops, at 5 Myrtle Street.
In 1882 Norbury & Upton carved the new stalls and reredos in the chancel of St Oswald’s Parish Church, Bidston [The Furniture Gazette, 4 November 1882].
The firm of Norbury, Upton & Paterson at 27 Hardman Street was listed in The Furniture Gazette: Classified List of the Furniture, Upholstery, and Allied Trades (1886).
Norbury, Paterson & Co. executed a wrought iron & carved oak baldacchino (canopy) for St. Anne’s R.C. Church, Edgehill, Liverpool [The Furniture Gazette, 1 November 1888].
NB: The Upton in the partnership possibly related to R. Upton, of Liverpool, who was recorded as the maker of an oak pulpit, in the Perpendicular style to the design of W. & G. Audsley, for Christ Church, Waterloo, Liverpool in 1876 [The Furniture Gazette, 8 January 1876].
