Myers, William (1806-1809)

Myers, William

Liverpool, Lancs; cabinet maker (fl. 1806-1809)

Admitted freeman on 5 November 1806 as son of Edward Myers. In 1809 he along with Joynson and John Chew & Son were paid £45 for supplying mahogany chairs for Liverpool Town Hall. Myers may have been in partnership with a chairmaker called William Johnson as no cabinet maker named 'Joynson' is recorded in the DEFM. Although it is not possible to say which chairs are by Myers & Joynson and other firms were also commissioned between 1809 and 1814, there are seventy-four chairs from this period in the Liverpool Town Hall (illus., Dean, Furniture History, (1989). Figs. 4-6).
