Vauxhall, London; metal furniture manufacturers (fl.1876-c.1900)

The Myer firm was established in 1876 and soon became a major supplier of iron bedsteads in London and the south of England. Its 1881 catalogue featured metal beds including French and Italian styles (illus. Agius (1978), p. 132). In a pre-1914 catalogue the Italian 2” pillar bed cost £63-£73 10s and the French one cost £51 10s-£61 11s depending on decoration on the metalwork.
