Morris, David (1905-1925)
Morris, David
Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire, Wales; cabinet maker (fl.c.1905-25).
Successor to William Thomas of Dulais Cabinet Works. He occupied the same premises and still used water to power his machinery, but the business seems to have operated on a smaller scale than Thomas’s due to outside competition introduced by better road and rail links. An oak dresser of c.1905 by this maker is illustrated in Bebb (2007), fig. 1387. Morris was a character of great local repute, still remembered in the early 21st century and known as ‘Dai Cabs’ or ‘Morris Cabinet’.
