Mathews (Matthews), John senior

Dublin, Ireland; joiner and cabinet maker (fl. 1757-1787)

Freeman of the City of Dublin as an Upholder by Grace Especial, Midsummer 1757.

He was elected Warden for the Joiners’ Guild from 1772 to 1773 and Master from 1774 to 1775 and 1782-3. In 1776 and 1787 he was elected onto the Dublin Common Council for the Joiners’ Guild. Recorded at 2 Coppinger’s Lane, 1772-87 (in partnership with Samuel Spoule and John Miller, 1772-5); 7 St Patrick’s Close, 1783.
