Her work was shown at the Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society, London, 1896-1916:
1896 – under her maiden name, Margaret E. Macdonald, and with her sister, Frances, she exhibited metal work including a clock in beaten silver (cat. no. 285)
1899 – an oak armchair with lacquer panel by Miss Margaret Mackintosh, designed by C.R. Mackintosh (cat. no. 444); she did not actually marry the designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, until 1900.
1916 – a panel ‘The Voices of the Wood’, price £105, was exhibited by Margaret Macdonald & Charles R. Mackintosh (cat. no. 181A).
The index of the catalogues listed her address as 128 Hope Street, Glasgow (1896) and 43a Glebe Place, London (1916)
