Lindsay, Joseph

Liverpool, Lancs; joiner (fl.1784-91)

In November 1791 Gillows wrote to the cabinet maker Edmundson of Liverpool regarding the illness of Joseph Lindsay, a joiner who had ‘…wrought for us a few years ago'. He was working for Mr Chubbard of Liverpool, carver and glass grinder (who by supplied the firm with plates in 1777) but had been taken ill with a fever. Richard Gillow requested Richard Edmundson, cabinet maker, to take the trouble to pay him 5s 10d that morning and 8s per week for every week of his illness until 3 November 1791. This was money owed him from Gillows' Sick Club.
