Son of Robert Leland.

Faulkner’s Dublin Journal, 7-11 June 1757:  ‘John Leland, at the Looking Glass and Coach Glass warehouse on Essex-street begs leave to inform the public, nobility and gentry, that had the pleasure to favour his late father, Mr. Robert Leland, with their commands that he now carries on the glass business in all its branches in the same extensive manner his father did. N.B. He has now a large assortment of looking-glasses, in carved and gilt frames, in the newest taste, mahogany and walnut ditto, coach glasses, great variety of gilt branches, globes for halls, bells and shades etc, all which he is determined to sell by wholesale or retail at the smallest profit’.

Faulkner’s Dublin Journal, 4-8 October 1757: ‘Death Sunday, in Essex-street, Mr. John Leland, Looking-glass seller and Coach-glass Maker’.
