Lavach was employed by Charles Hindley & Sons in the 1880s and worked on the cabinet, in darkened mahogany, designed by J.A. Stenhouse and exhibited by the firm at the 2nd exhibition of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society, London, in 1889 (cat. no. 387).
