Norwich, Norfolk and London; upholsterer, cabinet and chair maker (fl. 1777–1812)
In 1777 he was trading from an address in Dove Lane, when he purchased insurance cover of £250 on his utensils, stock and goods and £50 on his warehouse [The London Archives (TLA), Sun MS vol. 255, p. 325; vol. 282, p. 443].
He was made a freeman of Norwich on 6 November 1778 but had not through servitude in the City [Norfolk freedom registers].
By March 1780 he advertised his stock in trade for sale by auction [Norfolk Chronicle, 18 March 1780]. Later in this year he commenced trading from 42 Carnaby Street, London as a cabinet maker.
He purchased insurance cover of £300 of which half covered his utensils and stock. His stay in London was however brief and by 1786 he was back in Norwich and living the parish of St John Maddermarket.
From 1801 his business address was 1 St Andrew's Plain.
