Their advertisement in Wrightson's Directory of Birmingham, 1818, declares them to be successors to Abraham Lambley & Co. They manufactured ‘Writing Desks, Work Boxes, Liquer Bottle Cases, Stands, Tea Chests, Caddees, Shaving Cases, Toilet Cases, Medicene Chests, Card Boxes, Knife Cases etc.’. Copying machines for office use were also manufactured. Initially the business was in Moseley St, but by 1821 had transferred to 10 New St. By this year James Lambley was also selling pianofortes and church and chamber organs. [D]
