Kirkham, John (1793-1811)
Kirkham, John, West Smithfield, London, upholder (1793–1811). Son of Charles Kirkham of Clerkenwell, London, sawyer. App. to Milicent Walker on 9 March 1793 and free of the Upholders’ Co. by servitude, 7 April 1802. Shown at 1 Cow Lane at this date but by 3 July was at 29 Long Lane, an address which he was to occupy until 1811. In 1802 took out insurance cover of £300 of which £130 was in respect of utensils and stock but in the following year the total was £500 with £330 for stock and utensils.
