Kindley, William (1770–1825)

Kindley, William

London; trunk, portable desk maker, cabinet and case maker (fl. c. 1770–1825)

Kindley's trade card indicates that he was at Berkeley Square & 105 Fetter Lane, c. 1770.

By 1776 he had moved to 30 Green Arbor Court, Little Old Bailey where he purchased insurance cover of £300, of which £200 was in respect of utensils and stock. From December 1785 he was at 78 Watling Street and his insurance cover increased to £700 of which £500 was for utensils, stock and goods in trust.

He was declared bankrupt in 1789 at which date he was at 28 Bridge Row, Cannon Street. He was however soon back in business and in 1790 is shown at 3 Great Carter Lane.

From 1806 he was at 15 Horseshoe Court, Ludgate Hill. In this year the business is listed as William Kindley & Son. In the period 1809–11 the style Kinley & Slades was adopted.

A trade card dated 1819 shows that by this time he was trading as a cabinet maker.
