Joubert was recorded as an upholsterer in 1839 at 8 Maddox Street, Hanover Square and was listed there in the Post Office Directory 1845.
He exhibited a carved giltwood chair and a side cabinet at the 1862 London International Exhibition (illus. Meyer (2006), pp. 137 & 161). One of Amadee’s sons, who was a carver, carried out the decorative work on this side cabinet; he later had a business at the Pheasantry in the Kings Road, Chelsea.
Amédée Joubert & Son(s) of New Bond Street was listed as art furniture manufacturers in The Furniture Gazette Directory (1876) and they displayed art furniture at the Paris Exhibition, 1878 [The Furniture Gazette, 5 January 1878].
Amédée Joubert & Co., advertised as upholsterers, cabinet makers, furniture designers to the trade, manufacturers of parquet flooring and artistic joinery at addresses of 6 & 7 Percy Street, Tottenham Court Road (office) and The Westcroft Steamworks, Hammersmith (factory) [The Furniture Gazette, 2 June 1877].
A recommendation for their parquetry flooring by a reader (T.L.P.) was published in The Furniture Gazette on 7 July 1877.
The Furniture Gazette, 12 July 1879, recorded that the business of Henri Charles Renée Joubert and Jules Joubert was converted to a company, registered on 26 June 1879, with a capital of £5,000 in £10. There were reportedly five subscribers.
