Johns was listed as a cabinet maker, whose work for Heal's, was exhibited from 1910-23. These exhibits included:
1910 Arts & Crafts Exhibition, London - semi-circular oak washstand designed by Ambrose Heal, price £5 5s (cat. no. 349) and English parlour table designed by Ambrose Heal, replicas £30 (cat. no. 480). The original table was probably made for Ambrose Heal's own home at Pinner and is now at the V&A (CIRC.299:7-1960).
1912 Arts & Crafts Exhibition, London - china cabinet in black bean with stand, designed by Ambrose Heal (cat. no. 56) .
1914 British Arts & Crafts Exhibition, le Louvre, Paris - walnut sideboard, inlaid with ebony and mother of pearl, designed by Ambrose Heal.
1923 Arts & Crafts Exhibition, London - walnut sideboard.
Johns was also the maker of a walnut sideboard, inlaid with ebony and mother of pearl, designed by Ambrose Heal and exhibited at the 1914 British Arts & Crafts Exhibition, held at the Louvre Palais, Paris, and a inlaid walnut sideboard exhibited at the 1923 Arts & Crafts Exhibition. Possibly related to J. Johns, who produced a book and print case in black bean, exhibited at the 1912 exhibition.
