Hudson, William, Ben and John
Carmarthenshire, Wales; joiner? (b.1746-d.1799)
A Scottish craftsman who moved to south Wales in the late 18th century. His sons Ben and John (b.1777-d.1852) worked as itinerant furniture makers in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. John married in 1799 and moved to Cwmfelin, Llanboidy, Carmarthenshire, while Ben went to Maenclochog, Pembrokshire. John was later joined by his son William, and together they produced a wide variety of furniture characterised by ‘inlays of bog oak, box etc… sometimes [with] silver designs cut from current coins, beads, etc.’. John outlived his son, became a deacon of the local chapel and had a 10 acre smallholding.
