Houghton, Henry
Dublin, Ireland; carver (fl.c.1710-d.1729)
Henry Houghton was recorded in the accounts for St Michan’s church, Dublin, being paid 10s. 10d. for repairing the altar rails, and it has been suggested he was responsible for carving the case of the organ built by Jean-Baptiste Cuvillié in 1724. Houghton was also paid by Trinity College Dublin for unspecified work 1712-3. Henry Houghton’s will was drawn up in 1729 and his wife Elizabeth made hers in 1740. His son was the celebrated carver John Houghton.
