Holloway, Sam & Mary

Bethnal Green, London; French polishers (c.1910)

According to the reminiscences of cabinet maker Arthur Harding (b.1886), Sam and Mary, husband and wife, and later their daughters, were good French polishers whom Harding and Saville employed to polish their cabinets. The Holloways apparently worked half the year, keeping off alcohol, but the other half of the year was not so productive.
