Hicks displayed a writing table of Irish yew, inlaid with satinwood in the style of a Chippendale antique, at the 1882 Dublin Exhibition. When not in use the table had the appearance of a ornamental China or Indian cabinet [The Furniture Gazette, 16 September 1882].
