Hewit(t), John; Hewitt & Son

Liverpool; cabinet maker (1769–1803)

John Hewitt was at School Lane (1769–73); 19 Tarleton Street (1774); no. 23 (1781 and 1794); no. 24 (1790); and at no. 26 (1796).

As Hewit & Son at no. 23 (1800); and at no. 26 (1800–03). They purchased a Sun Insurance policy on 21 July 1792 for £400, including £100 on workshops and utensils in yard [Guildhall Library. Sun MS vol. 388, p. 331].

John Hewitt jnr, a cabinet maker in Tarleton Street, was married to Miss Smith, the daughter of Captain Smith of Hunter Street, at St Ann's Church [Billinge's Liverpool Advertiser, 11 February 1799].
