Hewett, Mary, William & Richard

London; chair & sofa makers (fl.1814-45)

Mary Hewett, a chair maker in Fuller Street, purchased a Sun Insurance policy on 20 July 1814 for £450, with £150 accounting for stock, utensils and workshop [Guildhall Library, Sun MS vol. 461, ref. 895716].  

W. & R. Hewett's relationship to Mary is unknown. They were recorded as chair & sofa makers at 29 Fuller Street (1827-29).

William alone was listed at no. 31 (1835-39) and at the same address in the London Post Office Directory, 1845. 

Richard on his own account was listed at no. 23 (1839) and at the same address in the London Post Office Directory, 1845. 

There was also a Richard Hewett listed in the same 1845 publication as a bed & mattress maker at 5 Union Street East, Spitalfields, who may have been related to the Fullers of Fuller Street.
