Born near the parish of St George, Bloomsbury in 1723, and was received as a married man into the Moravian Church in 1748. About 1750 left the Church when his first child was born.
Referred to as carpenter in the church archives but a trade card c. 1760 [Moravian Church Archives, London] describes him as carpenter, joiner, and turner. On the reverse of the card is a bill to Mr Huggins for supply of mops, brooms etc. July-September 1760. Front & reverse of trade card illus. Furniture History (2004), p.17.
