Dublin, Ireland; cabinet maker and joiner (fl.1754-d.1788)
Freeman of the City of Dublin as a Joiner by Service, Christmas 1754. He was elected Warden of the Joiners' Guild from 1775 to 1776 and Master from 1781 to 1782.
Recorded in Little Ship Street, 1754-6; corner of Aungier Street in Stephen’s Street or 1 Aungier Street, 1756-88.
Faulkner’s Dublin Journal, 27-30 March 1756: ‘George Grant, Cabinet-maker, having removed from Little Ship-street to the corner of Aungier-street in Stephen’s-green, begs leave to inform his friends and customers, that he is determined to carry on the cabinet and chair-making as formerly, in its most extensive branches. And as he has worked for some years past in London in one of the greatest shops, he hopes that he will be able to please the quality and others, who will be pleased to favour him with their commands’.
